KYIV. Nov 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The sales of diabetes drugs and medical products in Ukraine in January-September 2017 grew by 25% in monetary terms, Olena Karchevska, the marketing director of Business Credit, has said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.

The increase in packaging was 23%, while the growth of all retail sales in packaging was 11%, in monetary terms some 17%.

Thus, retail pharmacy sales of diabetes products amounted to UAH 86 million for this period, which corresponds to 6 million packs. Total retail pharmacy sales amounted to UAH 47.4 billion and 1.1 billion packages.

"The whole structure of diabetes goods - 80% - is prescription medicines. The red sector is test strips for glucometers - 16% of retail sales and 3% are glucometers that are related to products that increase the standard of living," she said.

OTC drugs from diabetes account for 1% in the overall structure.

The leaders in pharmacy sales in monetary terms are Farmak, Berlin-Chemie, Takeda, in natural terms Farmak, Berlin-Chemie, and Servier.
