Trade Unions Federation demands that Cabinet, Rada cut public tariffs

KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine has demanded that the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada reduce tariffs for natural gas, housing and utilities services for the population, and intends to hold a protest on December 8.

"We've submitted the requirements to be considered: reducing prices, or to be more precise, bringing tariffs for housing and utilities services to the justified level," Head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine Hryhoriy Osovy said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.

The federation encourages lowering tariffs taking into account the solvency of citizens, ensuring transparency and control over pricing. The expert said it is necessary to hold parliamentary hearings regarding tariffs.

The trade unions also demand setting the minimum wage at the level of UAH 3,200 from January 1, 2017, increase pensions and lift restrictions for working pensioners.
