Vydrin: one political force plotting 'chaotic scenario' for Ukraine

Kyiv, February 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – One of the political forces is plotting "a chaotic scenario" for Ukraine, Deputy Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Dmytro Vydrin has said.

He said this in a video link between the Interfax (Moscow) and Interfax-Ukraine (Kyiv) news agencies on Thursday, which was dedicated to the presidential election in Ukraine and the prospects for the development of Ukrainian-Russian relations in 2010.

Vydrin said that the attempt to destroy the reputation of those who could serve as "arbitrators" was obvious. In particular, he mentioned claims made by one of the political forces against journalists and the Central Election Commission (CEC) regarding their activity during the election process.

"I was shocked when there were attempts to destroy the reputation of international observers," he said.

Vydrin said that it was clear from the situation in which the 3,000 official observers were matched by a similar number of "pseudo-observers" from Georgia.

"This was an attempt to destroy the authority and reputation of the international observers… All of these facts allows it to be stated that one of the political forces is plotting a scenario that could be called a chaotic scenario, in which the country could be involved in chaos to make sure that one of the candidates is not recognized [as president], due to the fact that the CEC, journalists and observers have lost their reputations," he said.
