Academy of Pedegogical Sciences poll: Yanukovych would beat Tymoshenko in presidential run-off by nearly 14%
Kyiv, December 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – If Regions Party leader Viktor Yanukovych and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko win through to the second round of the upcoming presidential election, the former could beat the latter by a margin of 13.9%, according to the results of a new poll released on Monday.
The results of a survey conducted by the Institute of Social and Political Psychology of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine on December 18-24 were presented at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Monday. A total of 1,997 respondents participated in the survey. The poll's margin of error is 2.2%.
According to the poll, 39.5% of Ukrainians are ready to vote for Yanukovych in the run-off, and 25.6% are ready to support Tymoshenko.
Some 20.2% of those polled said they would vote against both of them, and 14.7% were undecided.
If Sergiy Tigipko and Yulia Tymoshenko hypothetically win through to the second round, they would have gained practically the same number of votes – 24.3% and 24.7%, respectively.
