Eurocopter wins tender to supply rescue helicopters to Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry

Kyiv, December 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The French-German-Spain Eurocopter Group, part of the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company, and Ukraine's Emergencies Ministry have signed a contract for the supply of two EC 145 helicopters to Ukrainian rescuers.

Ukrainian Deputy Emergencies Minister Viktor Baranchuk said this at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.

The contract worth UAH 110 million (about $20 million) was signed as a result of an open tender announced by the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry this summer. The world's leading helicopter producers, including Sikorsky Aircraft Co, Bell, Augusto, Ansat, Mikoyan, and Kamov, took part in the tender. The helicopters are to be delivered to Ukraine in 2009, with the first one arriving in May, he said.
