State budget not to be adopted before elections, says expert

Kyiv, November 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The parliament will not adopt a law on the state budget of Ukraine for 2010 before the presidential elections, President of the Open Policy Analytical Center Ihor Zhdanov has said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.

"Failure to adopt the budget has been forecast. It has been discussed several times, and the chances of its adoption are slim," he said.

According to him, politicization of the process of the budget's adoption during the election campaign is the reason for this.

"This process will be used by all political forces for their own interests," he said.

Zhdanov also said that the parliament would not support the candidacy of Yuriy Yekhanurov for defense minister.

"Unfortunately, this step, as well as the other steps by the president, is doomed to failure," he said.
