Tariff for transport of coal by rail will rise by 10% during heating season – Ukrzaliznytsia

Kyiv, January 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Tariffs for coal transportation by rail in the country during the heating season will increase by 10%, despite the fact that tariffs for rail freight traffic in February will grow by 30%.

Ukrzaliznytsia acting CEO Maksym Blank said this at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, the next increase in tariffs for coal transportation will be held in April 2015 - by 18.2%, i.e. after the heating season.

As reported, Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure plans from February 1, 2015 to raise tariffs rail freight traffic by 30%.

The rise in tariffs will contribute to the partial stabilization of the poor financial situation of Ukrainian railways caused by a fall in traffic, higher prices for industrial products, the increased debt burden due to the hryvnia devaluation, etc.

Rates for freight transportation by rail in 2014 increased by 12%.
