Almost all Ukrainian airlines violate labor laws – trade union

Kyiv, October 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Almost all Ukrainian airlines roughly violate the law, have wage arrears, the evidence of its non-payment are documented.

This was announced by the vice president of the trade union of the association of Ukraine's civil aviation staff, the chairman of the trade union of stewards at AeroSvit, Veniamin Tymoshenko, at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.

He also noted problems with the implementation of labor laws by the country's largest airline - Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kyiv).

"There we have no primary trade union organization, however according to our information, the company has a lot of problems and numerous violations of labor laws. There are three trade unions there, among which only the pilots' union defends their rights. If the UIA owners do not start a normal social dialogue, strikes are not far off," Tymoshenko said.

As reported, the European Court of Human Rights declared that the decision of the Ukrainian court, adopted in October 2011, on a ban on strike to the staff of AeroSvit airline contradicts the European Convention on Human Rights.
