Poll: Over 80% of Kyiv residents ready to vote at presidential elections
Kyiv, October 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – An absolute majority of Kyiv residents have said they are ready to vote during presidential elections scheduled for January 17, 2010, according to the results of a survey conducted by the Sociopolis Center for Social Studies in October 2009.
The center’s deputy director for science, Serhiy Lytvynov, presented the results of the survey at a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine news agency on Thursday.
The poll showed that 81.1% of respondents are ready to vote during the election of the head of state if it had been held this Sunday. In particular, 48.8% said they would definitely vote, and 32.7% said they would most likely vote.
Incumbent President Viktor Yuschenko and Regions Party leader Viktor Yanukovych remain the leaders in the "presidential anti-rating." Asked who the respondents would not vote for under any circumstances, 25% named Yuschenko and 24.2% said Yanukovych. At the same time, the chairman of the parliament's committee for national security and defense, Anatoliy Hrytsenko, had the lowest level of support (1.8%).
The survey was conducted in ten districts in Kyiv on October 7-20. Participants in the poll included 805 respondents aged over 18. The poll's margin of error does not exceed 3.6%.
