Ukrainian agrarian associations asking new government to keep preferential taxation in agriculture

Kyiv, February 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Union of Poultry Breeders, the Ukrainian Agrarian Association and the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club are asking the newly appointed Cabinet of Ministers to keep preferential taxation for agricultural producers.

"Preserving benefits on VAT and fixed agricultural tax is very important for us, this is actually the only real help from the national budget," chairman of Ukraine's Union of Poultry Breeders Oleksandr Bakumenko said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.

Agricultural associations also believe that the newly appointed Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Ihor Shvaika should make every effort to eliminate corrupt schemes in agriculture.

Director General of the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club Volodymyr Lapa said that for this it is necessary, first of all, to cancel obligatory grain certification and technical inspections of agricultural equipment, as well as resolve a number of land issues.

Bakumenko assured that the situation on the food market of Ukraine continues to be stable.

"The situation on the food market is stable. U.S. dollar fluctuations are not entirely pleasant, but we are fulfilling all of our obligations to our trading partners," he said.

As reported, the Ukrainian Agrarian Association appealed to the parliament asking that it urgently adopt a number of bills to eliminate corruption on the agricultural market.
