Ukraine in H1 of 2013/2014 MY to export about 16 m tonnes of grain, says UGA

Kyiv, November 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukraine in November through December will export about 6 million tonnes of grain, President of the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) Volodymyr Klymenko has forecast.

"We've now achieved exports of 3 million tonnes [of grain per month]," he said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.

As reported, with reference to data from the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food, as of November 5 Ukraine had supplied over 10 million tonnes of grain to foreign markets this marketing year (July -June).

According to Klymenko, Ukraine will be able to realize its potential for grain exports [30 million tonnes] in the current marketing year. The monthly grain shipment could be 3.4-3.5 million tonnes, he predicted.

"We must do the right thing by Ukrzaliznytsia, which has restored more than 1,000 cars," he added.

At the same time, according to the UGA, the low turnover of cars is still linked to the need to obtain grain quality certificates for domestic transportation. In addition, Ukrzaliznytsia in October prohibited sending original documents with grain, therefore often the documents are received later than the cargo.
