Personal Data Protection Service not filing lawsuits against personal database owners
Kyiv, December 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The State Service for Personal Data Protection is conducting checks on the owners of personal databases regarding the observance of laws in the field of personal data protection, but it has not filed lawsuits against personal databases owners violating the law, service deputy head Volodymyr Kozak said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.
"The State Service for Personal Data Protection is conducting checks on the owners of personal databases regarding the observance of the law in the field of personal data protection. It has conducted about 40 checks. As of yet there have been no fines, as any violations found are rapidly rectified. We have ensured that dozens of regulations have had to be fulfilled. All of them were fulfilled on time," Kozak said.
At the same time, he suggested that certain cases "could go to court" in the near future.
"I'm not sure this will continue: our professionalism is growing, the validity of statements is also growing, so I think we will take certain measures," he said.
