Symonenko: Government and oligarchs fighting with Communist Party
Kyiv, October 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko has said that the government is holding a campaign to discredit his political party, which is a sign of an increase in the number of supporters of the communists.
"A powerful oligarchic capital and a government system, which protects the interests of this big business, are doing all they can to subvert the objective will of our citizens," he said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.
Symonenko said that various newspapers were being published to discredit the Communist Party.
"I can say, and I have all grounds for this, that huge funds are being spent to change the algorithm of the formation of the level of political consciousness of our voters and their positions," he said.
"I state that the government and oligarchs are currently fighting with us, the Communist Party.... There are various reports to discredit the Communist Party, and, of course, it shows that they are afraid, that October, in fact, will be red," he said.
