Sandora mulling possibility of entering Ukraine's mineral water market

Kyiv, March 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Sandora Ltd. (Mykolaiv region), the largest juice producer in Ukraine, is mulling the possibility of entering the Ukrainian mineral water market, Sandora Director General Neil Sturrock has said at a press conference in Interfax-Ukraine.

According to Sturrock, the company is intending to start studying this market in the second to third quarter of 2009.

Along with this, Sandora is mulling a few options for entering the mineral water market: launching of the production of a Russian brand of the Pepsi company - Aqua Minerale, the purchase of a Ukrainian version of the brand or creating a new brand.

Sturrock also said the company is intending to produce the Gatorade sports drink, also developed by Pepsi in Russia, in Ukraine in the near future.

"We will do this for sure. But looking at the segment in Ukraine now, I see it is very small. The main question when we will do this," he said.

Sandora exports 25% of its production, which is more than 67% of total Ukrainian juice exports. The company's products are available in over 20 countries, including the United States, Germany, Britain, Sweden, Israel, Greece, Poland, Canada, Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
