Customs Service from early June registers 500 new foreign economic activity subjects

Kyiv, July 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The State Customs Service of Ukraine after the entry into force of the new Customs Code (from June 1 this year) has registered more than 500 new subjects of foreign economic activity, the director of the customs control and clearance department, Serhiy Siomka, said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

The innovations of the Customs Code have invigorated the foreign economic activities of Ukrainian businesses, he said.

"The evidence of this is the fact that since June 1 about 500 new subjects of foreign economic activity have applied for registration at the customs authorities," he said, adding that the subjects have undergone registration at the central bodies.

The official noted that the new Customs Code provides the subjects of foreign economic activity with the right to carry out customs clearance not at the place of registration without any coordination with the customs authorities.

According to him, in June almost 1,800 foreign economic activity subjects, or 15% of the total number of legal entities performing customs clearance, passed customs clearance of imports at places other than that of registration.
