Almost 70% of Ukrainians believe domestic education requires reform – poll

Some 69% of Ukrainians believe that domestic education requires reform, according to the results of a study by the Institute of Social and Political Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine and the Association of Political Psychologists of Ukraine.

According to the results of the study, which were presented at the Interfax-Ukraine press center on Tuesday, 69% of respondents believe that domestic education requires reform (in general plus rather yes), 5.9% do not agree with this statement (in general plus rather no), 23% found it difficult to answer, and 2.1% said they did not care.

At the same time, 31.2% of respondents positively assess the progress of reforming the education system in Ukraine, and 27.3% - negatively.

In addition, when asked whether respondents trust the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, 34.6% answered that they do, while 36.6% said they do not trust; and when asked whether respondents trust the current Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, 21.9% answered that they do, while 24.6% said they do not trust.

The study, which was conducted from October 14 to October 23, 2024, involved 1,513 respondents from a sample representing the adult population of Ukraine aged 18 years and older in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government. The sampling error is 3.2%. The representation of teachers in the electoral population was increased according to the principle of convex sampling.
