EU should begin accession talks with Ukraine by end of June – European Commission President
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has said negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union should begin by the end of June.
Ukraine has completed all the steps that the European Commission formulated. Therefore, the European Union "should begin accession talks with Ukraine already by the end of this month," she said at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin on Tuesday.
At the same time, von der Leyen emphasized that the reforms that Ukraine is implementing are the basis for making Ukraine an attractive platform for investment, for business, as well as bringing it even closer to the European Union.
