Zelenskyy on start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to EU in June: This will be fulfillment of promises that Europe gives us
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has once again stated that Ukraine has fulfilled all the conditions for the start of negotiations on membership in the European Union; these negotiations, according to him, should begin in June, since these are exactly the promises that Europe has made to Ukraine.
"No matter how the political mood in Europe changes, the fact of our reality is that all Europeans, without exception, and every nation that shares the common values of the whole of Europe and wants to live like us, live in peace," he said at the opening ceremony of the conference on the restoration of Ukraine in Berlin on Tuesday.
Zelenskyy stressed that "Ukrainians are a nation like our neighbors in Moldova, like the people of Georgia, like the Balkan states and other states that respect Europe, freedom and the rule of law."
"Now Ukraine has fulfilled everything that was necessary for the actual opening of negotiations on our country's membership in the European Union. All preconditions are implemented. This June should be the time when the negotiating framework will be confirmed and the negotiations themselves will begin," he said.
According to him, this is important for the reason that "it will be the fulfillment of the promises that Europe has made, and proof that Europe will not be broken either by pressure, or by actual doubts or any manipulation."
Zelenskyy also expressed confidence that "the time will surely come for a free Belarus. Belarus in Europe."
