Netherlands to provide Ukraine with remote-controlled YPR infantry fighting vehicles – Defense Minister
The Netherlands will supply Ukraine with a batch of YPR-765 infantry fighting vehicles equipped with remote control, said Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren.
"The Netherlands will presently provide the Ukrainian armed forces with YPR armoured infantry fighting vehicles with remote control weapon stations, following Volodymyr Zelenskyy's request. It is vital that all countries continue to contribute to Ukraine," she wrote on the social network X.
YPR IFVs are equipped with Remotely Controlled Weapon Stations (RCWS), which allow the crew to control the weapon from within. Thus, the vehicles can also provide fire support on the battlefield, according to the website of the Dutch Ministry of Defense.
It is reported that the next batch of YPR will arrive in Ukraine in the near future. The exact number and type of weapons is not reported.
According to the department, the Netherlands has already provided Ukraine with a total of 207 YPR of various types.
