U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed his visit to the Ukrainian capital.
"I returned to Kyiv today to demonstrate our unwavering support for Ukraine as they defend their freedom against Russian aggression," he wrote on the social network X.
As previously reported, the purpose of the trip is to demonstrate U.S. solidarity with Ukraine, which is trying to repel massive Russian bombing on its northeastern border.
Blinken hopes to send a strong signal of reassurance to the Ukrainians, who are obviously in a very difficult situation, said a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity to reporters traveling with Blinken.
