Verkhovna Rada adopts individual educational trajectory bill – Dpty PM Fedorov

The Verkhovna Rada adopted in second reading a bill on individual educational trajectories in higher education, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology Development Mykhailo Fedorov, who is also the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, has said.

"Individual educational trajectories – the Rada has adopted bill No. 10177. The bill was backed by 306 MPs in second reading," he said on the Telegram channel on Tuesday.

Students "will build their educational routes on the own, regulate the pace and duration of their studies, and also, if necessary, they will be able to change their specialty after a year or a year and a half of study," the official said.

Fedorov also gave the following example: "A student has not yet decided on a specific specialty, so they enter the Social Sciences interdisciplinary program. Within its framework there are several specialties: sociology, social work and political science. After a year and a half, the student decides that political science is closer to them, chooses this specialty and continues to study it purposefully. Those who initially decided on a specialty will be able to continue to enroll directly in it. Also, contract students will independently determine the duration of their studies at the university. The student will be able to complete a 4-year bachelor's program in three years or so, combine studying with work and complete it in 6-8 years."
