Ukraine's govt needs to be cleared from more than 30 unusual powers – Nemchinov

Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov believes that the government of Ukraine needs to be cleared of more than 30 unusual powers and functions.

"At the previous government meeting, I submitted a document developed by the State Property Fund about writing off the warning system of a railway station to some regional branches of Ukrzaliznytsia. This is being written off by government decision. And we counted more than three dozen such powers, approximately 34-35," Nemchinov said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine, answering a question about the need to clear the government of unusual functions.

He said that it is about tasks that should be solved at the level of ministries and, possibly, central executive authorities.

"We are not talking about political functions, but first of all about economic ones. Because each document goes through a full regulatory procedure – approval, examination, conclusions, etc. This takes people away from doing other things, such as European integration," the minister said.
