USA extends validity of humanitarian entry permits for Ukrainians
The United States has extended the period of stay of Ukrainian asylum seekers in the United States for up to two years.
This applies to Ukrainians who are there on the basis of so-called humanitarian entry permits, the press service of the Ministry for the Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine said, citing Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova.
Ukrainians who arrived in the United States under the Uniting for Ukraine (U4U) program, a simplified initiative to provide Ukrainian citizens with humanitarian entry into the United States, or who received humanitarian entry at U.S. border crossings in period from February 11 to April 25, 2022.
"Note that a humanitarian entry permit is one of the most common and frequently used types of special status for entry. This type of special permit allows entry into the United States and is granted on humanitarian grounds to persons who are not legally entitled to customary rights. to enter the United States," the ministry said in the statement.
