Brussels considers replacement of AFU commander-in-chief internal decision of Ukraine
The European Union states that the replacement of commander–in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny with Oleksandr Syrsky is an internal matter of Ukraine and will continue to support the country regardless of who heads the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The replacement of the commander in chief is an internal decision of Ukraine and it is actually prerogative of the president [of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy],” Nabila Massrali, a representative of the EU Foreign Diplomatic Service, said at a briefing in Brussels on Friday, commenting on personnel changes in Ukraine at the request of journalists.
At the same time, she did not answer the question whether the EU sees signs of instability in Ukraine in this regard.
Massrali stressed that the EU's support for Ukraine is unwavering. “We are committed to supporting Ukraine as long as it takes and it provides and provide whatever it takes regardless of who leads Ukraine's armed forces,” she said.
