Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz believes that the heads of state and government of EU member states will be able to agree on the allocation of EUR 50 billion of financial assistance to Ukraine.
"We want to complete what we started in December. We want to secure financial assistance for Ukraine. We have been talking about this for weeks and months, but I believe that today we will be able to reach agreements," he said upon arrival at an extraordinary meeting of the European Council.
Scholz noted the importance of "we in Europe helping each other and being in solidarity with each other."
He also noted the importance of providing military assistance to Ukraine.
