Germany to supply military helicopters to Ukraine for first time
The Federal government intends to support the defense of Ukraine with the supply of military helicopters from the arsenal of the Bundeswehr, the German Tagesschau reports, citing the German Defense Ministry.
Defense Minister Boris Pistorius promised Ukraine six multi-purpose Sea King Mk41 helicopters and spare parts kits, as well as training for them.
Ukraine's allies have previously met for consultations in the so-called Ramstein format.
The Sea King is a proven and reliable helicopter that will help Ukrainians in many areas: from reconnaissance over the Black Sea to transporting soldiers. This is the first German delivery of this kind," Pistorius said.
