The UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi announced his visit to Irpin, where the restoration of houses destroyed due to the Russian aggression is taking place.
“18 months after first visiting Irpin, amazing to see how quick and efficient has been the reconstruction of houses destroyed by Russian forces in 2022. Proud that UNHCR could provide support to oblast and city authorities in this effort, allowing many displaced to return home,” he said on X.
Earlier, Grandi announced a visit to Kharkiv and Kryvyi Rih.
“On Ukraine’s Unity Day we visited one of five underground schools set up in Kharkiv metro stations where children can learn in safety and warmth — a sign of the huge disruptions which the war has brought to everybody’s life, but also a strong symbol of Ukrainian resilience,” he also said on X.
On January 18, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi announced that he was heading to Moldova and Ukraine.
