Zelenskyy: EU 12th package of Russia-related sanctions to help reduce economic foundation of war
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked European partners for adopting the 12th package of sanctions against Russia for its aggressive war in Ukraine.
"Today I would like to thank our partners in the European Union for approving the 12th package of sanctions. Importantly, for the first time, there is a ban on Russian diamonds. There are new measures against circumventing sanctions and against the supply of dual-use goods and technologies to Russia. There are new restrictions on imports from Russia," Zelenskyy said in an evening video address on December 18.
As he noted, "all of this will really help to reduce the economic foundation of the war."
According to the president, Ukraine will continue to work with our partners to ensure that the sanctions imposed by Europe work globally.
