Michel optimistic about chances of further EU measures to support Ukraine
EU ready to continue to impose sanctions against Russia and support Ukraine in various areas, European Council President Charles Michel said on Friday.
“We support Ukraine and will support it as long as it is necessary,” he promised during a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyyen in Canada.
The head of the European Council said that he is “optimistic about further EU measures” in support of Ukraine. He assured that the EU is ready to make additional decisions, in particular, to introduce new sanctions against the Russian Federation.
In addition, Michel recalled that the EU had already allocated assistance to Ukraine totaling EUR 83 billion in various areas. We are talking, among other things, about financial and military assistance.
