Associate professor of Kharkiv university, who corrected Russian missile strikes on city, detained, taken into custody - prosecutor's office

The investigators of the Main Department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kharkiv region, under the procedural guidance of the Regional Prosecutor's Office, detained and reported suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) to a 49-year-old associate professor of the university.

"An associate professor of one of Kharkiv universities through the telegram messenger received an offer from a Russian citizen to cooperate on a confidential basis in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine, to which he agreed. The teacher collected and transmitted to the Russian curator information about the movement of the defense forces and the deployment of defense fortifications in Kharkiv," the press service of Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reports.

According to the investigation, the suspect recorded the consequences of missile strikes on one of Kharkiv defense enterprises, which was systematically shelled by Russia. In addition, he monitored the activities of foreign volunteer organizations in the regional center.

On the instructions of the curator, the suspect collected and gave him data on the political position of his fellow teachers.

During searches in the suspect's apartment, law enforcement officers found and seized a mobile phone and computer equipment with evidence of cooperation with a representative of the Russian Federation.

The court satisfied the motion of the prosecution and chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention without the right to post a bail.
