Kyiv Metropoliten receives all 60 Warsaw carriages
Kyiv Metropoliten has received the last batch of cars donated by the Warsaw Metro, Kyiv City State Administration reports.
“In total, the capital’s subway received 60 decommissioned cars of series No. 81 free of charge as technical assistance from Polish colleagues. The phased transportation of all cars lasted seven months,” the report states.
Now, metro specialists continue to process each received train to determine its technical condition.
“We note that 80% of the rolling stock running on the lines of the Kyiv metro was manufactured in Soviet times - it is similar to the cars that are used in the Warsaw metro. The design of these cars has the necessary equipment for timely and proper maintenance of the rolling stock of the capital’s metro,” the report says.
As Kyiv Metro notes, for safe train movement, fast and high-quality travel, rolling stock requires timely, high-quality and thorough repairs.
