Lithuanian army, with help of Germany, to repair Ukrainian Leopards – Defense Ministry
The Lithuanian army, together with the German defense industry, will repair Leopard tanks in Lithuania that were damaged during the fighting in Ukraine, after which they will be returned to service, according to the website of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.
"Performing real-life tasks of this kind allows us to train, maintain the readiness of our personnel, ensure supply chain verification and ongoing support for Ukraine," the ministry said.
At the same time, the Ministry of Defense said Lithuania has already organized the repair and return to Ukraine of PzH2000 self-propelled howitzers that participated in the hostilities. "In the same year, the first group of 18 mechanics from the Ukrainian army, specialists from the Lithuanian army, was trained in the repair of howitzers, which lose their technical characteristics due to intensive use, and the ability to repair equipment in combat conditions is very necessary," the Lithuanian defense department said in a statement.
