Shmyhal: Drone production grows hundredfold over a year
The production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Ukraine has increased a hundredfold, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said.
"We have facilitated the bureaucratic procedures for defense procurement of Ukrainian drones. The path of a drone from development to its purchase is now as short as possible. Over the year, the production of drones has increased a hundredfold," he said during the hour of questions for the government at a plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada on Friday.
At the same time, he noted that more than 200 Ukrainian companies began to develop UAVs.
In addition, the prime minister announced a forecast that spending on defense production in Ukraine next year will increase sevenfold, to UAH 55.8 billion.
"In addition, we have provided more than UAH 48 billion for the replenishment and expansion of the army of drones, the Ukrainian army of drones. The enemy feels the strength and power of our weapons, and will feel it even more," Shmyhal said.
