AFU advances near Bakhmut, Orikhove on Monday – ISW

Ukrainian troops have been conducting offensive operations at Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line in Kharkiv and Luhansk regions, as well as in Bakhmut area of Donetsk region, and advanced in Bakhmut area, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said in a July 24 report.

According to analysts, Ukrainian forces have been conducting offensive operations in the west of Donetsk region and in the west of Zaporizhia region and have reportedly advanced in the area of the town of Orikhove in Zaporizhia region.

In turn, the Russian occupiers carried out offensive operations at Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, in Bakhmut area, at Avdiyivka-Donetsk line, occupying insignificant positions south of Kreminna. In addition, Russian troops conducted offensive operations in the west of Donetsk region, but "did not make any confirmed or claimed gains."

ISW believes that it was the Ukrainian forces that launched drone strikes on the building of the Russian Ministry of Defense in Moscow, as well as on Russian military facilities in the occupied Crimea, temporarily disrupting Russian logistics through Crimea on July 24.

"Russian opposition source The Insider reported that Russian authorities banned Russian television channels from covering the drone strikes, citing sources in Russian state media channels," ISW said.

Crimean occupation authorities have said they will closely monitor social media posts that could help Ukrainian forces identify targets in Crimea, ISW said.
