USA warns Rosatom about presence of American technologies at ZNPP – media
The U.S. Department of Energy, in a letter dated March 17, 2023, warned Rosatom about the presence of American technical information subject to export control at Zaporizhia NPP (ZNPP), CNN reports.
"The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant in Enerhodar contains US-origin nuclear technical data that is export-controlled by the United States Government," the CNN referred to the letter, which was reviewed by CNN and is dated March 17, 2023, by director of the Energy Department’s Office of Nonproliferation Policy, Andrea Ferkile, addressed to Rosatom’s director general.
In the letter, the CNN notes, it was also mentioned that the Energy Department warned Rosatom in the letter that it is "unlawful" for any Russian citizens or entities to handle the U.S. technology.
The U.S. Energy Department's National Nuclear Security Administration told CNN in a statement that the letter is authentic. The department did not say whether Rosatom's response was received.
