Zelenskyy visits AFU advanced positions in Bakhmut direction

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the advanced positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donetsk region on Wednesday, the presidential press service has said.

"During a working trip to Donetsk region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the advanced positions of the Ukrainian servicemen in Bakhmut direction. The head of state heard reports on the operational situation and the course of hostilities on the frontline," the office said.

It notes that Zelenskyy also spoke with the servicemen, thanking them for protecting Ukraine, after which he presented national awards to the soldiers.

"I am honored to be here today to award our heroes. To shake hands and thank them for protecting the sovereignty of our country," Zelenskyy said before the award ceremony.

"Today we saw a lot of destruction around. After the victory, we will sharpen everything. You have a difficult fate – to protect our land, to return everything to Ukraine for our children," he said.
