Zelenskyy: Frontline in eastern Ukraine is not changed

The frontline in eastern Ukraine has not changed despite fierce fighting and increased pressure from the Russian army, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.

As he said, today a regular meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief was held in an expanded format, where reports were heard from the army commanders from the frontline.

In particular, according to him, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny reported on the general front-line situation and enemy missile strikes on Ukrainian positions.

"Of course, reports on Donetsk and Luhansk regions evoke special emotions. We are doing everything to contain enemy attacks there – constant intensive assaults that Russia does not stop, although it suffers huge losses there," Zelenskyy said in an evening video address.

"General Syrsky reported on Bakhmut and Lyman directions. Fierce battles. Principled battles. We are doing everything to support our guys. General Tarnavsky reported on the battles in Avdiyivsky and other directions. The invaders use the whole range of weapons there against our guys, including even with tear grenades," the president said.

"But it is very important, despite all the pressure on our forces, that the frontline has not changed," he said and thanked all the defenders of Ukraine in the corresponding frontlines.

According to Zelenskyy, reports of other commanders and heads of the Defense Forces were heard as part of the Headquarters meeting.

"The situation is without essential changes," he said.

In addition, reports were heard at Headquarters by Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Main Intelligence Agency of the Ministry of Defense, on the real situation regarding Russian flirting with rhetoric about strategic weapons, as well as the Foreign Intelligence Service, SBU, the forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard, the border service, the Minister of Defense and other government representatives.

"We keep full attention to every detail of our defense plan and the ambitions of the enemy," the president said.
