USA plans to purchase new Abrams tanks for Ukraine - Pentagon
The package of U.S. military assistance, including 31 Abrams M1 tanks, provides for the purchase of new combat vehicles for Ukraine, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh has said.
The representative of the U.S. Defense Ministry said that a part of the aid, which they announced on January 25, aims to purchase new tanks for Ukraine.
Singh noted that she cannot now determine the time frame when Abrams will appear in Ukraine, specifying that it is not about weeks, but months.
In addition, the deputy press secretary of the Pentagon commented on the remarks that appeared in the media regarding the allegedly small number of American tanks.
“I don’t think of the battalion of Abrams tanks giving to Ukraine is at all symbolic. This is a real capability that will certainly give Ukraine a benefit on a battle field,” Singh added.
