Parliament passes law on parliamentary elections under mixed system, with 5% election threshold, without participation of blocs
The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, has adopted a law that foresees the election of people’s deputies under a mixed system (50% under party lists and 50% under constituencies), introduces a 5% election threshold and bans the participation of blocs of political parties.
A total of 366 MPs on Thursday voted for the law on parliamentary elections, which was drafted by an ad hoc parliamentary commission.
