Zelensky suspends Bakanov from duties of SBU Chief
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has suspended Ivan Bakanov from duties of Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
Respective decree No. 499/2022 was made public on the president's website on Sunday, July 17.
"In line with Article 47 of the Disciplinary Regulations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) adopted by the law of Ukraine No. 551-XIV dated March 24, 1999, I order to suspend Bakanov Ivan Hennadiyovych from duties if Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine," reads the document.
Article 47 of the Disciplinary Regulations of the AFU states that "non-fulfilment (improper fulfilment) of duties that has caused human losses or other heavy consequences or created a threat of such consequences constitutes grounds for the dismissal of such a serviceman."
