Zelensky suspends Venediktova from duties, appoints Oleksiy Symonenko as Acting Prosecutor General
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has suspended Iryna Venediktova from duties of Prosecutor General and appointed Oleksiy Symonenko as Acting Prosecutor General.
Respective decrees No. 500/2022 and No. 501/2022 were made public on the president's website on Sunday, July 17.
"In line with Part 2 of Article 11 of the law of Ukraine on the legal status of martial law, I order to suspend Venediktova Iryna Valentynivna from duties of Prosecutor General," reads the first decree.
"In line with Part 2 of Article 11 of the law of Ukraine on the legal status of martial law, I order to appoint Symonenko Oleksiy Yuriyovych as Acting Prosecutor General," reads the second decree.
