Embassy of Slovakia moves to Uzhgorod, resumes work
The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic has moved the Slovak Embassy in Ukraine from Kyiv to Uzhgorod, Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korcok said, as Slovak news agency TASR reports.
"The deputy ambassador of Slovakia is already working there. The ambassador will be sent to Uzhgorod on Thursday [March 24]," TASR said in a statement.
It is noted that with this step, Slovakia wants to show that it remains in Ukraine and, thus, the office will fully operate from Uzhgorod. The same employees who were evacuated from Kyiv will work at the embassy. The Ministry will constantly assess the situation in connection with the war.
"I consider this an important step towards Ukraine. This is also an important step for the diplomatic service, because they will help on the spot, at the border. They will fully carry out diplomatic activities and especially cover events in Ukraine," Korcok said.
