Famine coming for different countries of world - Zelensky
One of the consequences of the Ukrainian-Russian war will be famine in different countries of the world, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday, speaking via video link in front of the Italian parliament.
"The consequences of this war are already being felt in many countries of the world, not only in Europe, and the most terrible will be the famine that is coming for different countries," he said.
Zelensky recalled that "Ukraine has always been one of the largest food exporters."
"But how can we sow under the attack of Russian artillery? How can we sow when the enemy deliberately mines the fields? Destroys bases with fuel... We do not know what kind of crop we will have and whether we will be able to export when our ports are blocked and mined?" he said.
The president of Ukraine clarified that it was a disruption in the supply of corn, vegetable oil and other goods "vital, including for your neighbors across the sea."
"Prices are already rising. How many tens of millions of people will demand help?" Zelensky asked.
