Since start of war, almost 400,000 citizens return to Ukraine, most of them are men - Border Service
Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, almost 400,000 citizens have returned to Ukraine, of which 75-80% are men, Andriy Demchenko, the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, said.
"From February 24 to today, almost 400,000 citizens of Ukraine have crossed the border to enter our state. Among them, the majority - about 75-80% - are men," Demchenko said at a briefing at the Ukrainian media center in Lviv on Monday.
He clarified that the border guards do not ask everyone about the purpose of returning to Ukraine.
"But I can note that most of them, when communicating with border guards or media representatives who are also interested in why Ukrainian men are returning, clearly indicate that they cannot remain aloof from the situation that has developed around their country, they will either in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, or in territorial defense, or in any other way possible for them, they will contribute to Ukraine's victory," Demchenko said.
