Russia's decision to withdraw from the Council of Europe (CoE) has been made, the relevant letter of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has been handed over to the secretary general of the organization, State Duma Deputy Speaker and head of the Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Pyotr Tolstoy said.
"The decision on the withdrawal from the Council of Europe has been made. The relevant letter of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has been handed over to the secretary-general of the organization," Tolstoy wrote on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.
"Russia is withdrawing from the Council of Europe voluntarily, it is an informed and well thought out decision," he said.
