China ready to play constructive role in resolving situation in Ukraine via negotiations – embassy
Member of the State Council, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine with the Foreign Ministers of France and Italy via video link on Thursday, the Chinese Embassy in Ukraine reports.
Wang Yi noted that, as President Xi Jinping said in his speech at the virtual summit of the leaders of China, France and Germany, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states should be respected, the purposes and principles of the UN Charter should be fully respected, they should be attentive to the legitimate security concerns of all countries and support all efforts to promote a peaceful resolution of the crisis.
In line with the above position, China is ready to strengthen exchanges and interactions with various parties and continue to play a constructive role in resolving the crisis through peaceful means and negotiations.
Wang Yi noted that Russia and Ukraine have held three rounds of talks, and although there are still obvious differences between the two sides, hope for peace will increase with each talk.
China hopes that the international community will continue to encourage and support Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and create the necessary conditions for this.
