Zelensky calls Ukraine's membership in EU final exam for Europe
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he sees Ukraine's possible membership in the European Union as "the final exam for Europe."
"Debates on Ukraine's future in the EU are continuing in Europe today and tomorrow. I believe that our people, our state, our army have done everything to prompt them to want to see us there, among equals, to prompt them to invite us there," Zelensky said in a video address on Thursday evening.
"It is the final exam for Europe. Among the states' leaders, there are those who support us. But there are also those who support only themselves," Zelensky said.
At the same time, Zelensky said that he sees "how the people of all European countries treat us. And this is the main point. Because I know for sure that if people decided on our membership in the EU, they would definitely choose the people." "Today, when I see the support of the peoples of each country in the squares of the capitals of Europe, I know that the Ukrainian people are already in the European Union. Well, as for the politicians... I'm sure they'll adjust. Preferably as soon as possible," he said.
