Zelensky: The invasion must stop, time to sit down at negotiating table, hold substantive talks
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has said Russia's invasion should end and it is necessary to hold talks.
"The war must end. We must sit down at the negotiating table. But have honest [talks], objective [talks], in the interests of the people, not [based on] outdated murderous ambitions," he said in a video message Tuesday night.
"It is very important that the Russian leadership realizes: the United States, the UK, the European Union, Canada, Australia, Japan and other free countries will have set an example for the world. …Sanctions cannot be circumvented."
Zelensky also thanked Russian citizens who support Ukraine, take to the streets and fight.
"They fight every day for us and for themselves. Because they fight for peace," he said.
