Evacuation of population of Mariupol postponed, Russian side continues shelling – city council
The evacuation of the civilian population of Mariupol (Donetsk region) is postponed, the Russian side does not adhere to the regime of silence, continues shelling, the press service of the city council has reported.
"Due to the fact that the Russian side does not adhere to the ceasefire and continued shelling both Mariupol itself and its suburbs, for security reasons, the evacuation of the population is postponed!" the city council said on the Telegram channel.
Residents of Mariupol are asked to follow to the places of shelters. More information about the evacuation will be posted soon.
"At the moment, negotiations are underway with the Russian Federation on introducing ceasefire and ensuring a safe humanitarian corridor. The police will also inform the residents of the city with the help of loudspeakers," the city council said.
