Russian occupiers use silence mode to move forward – Ukrainian official
The Russian army is using the temporary ceasefire to move forward, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporary Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereschuk has said.
"Our military reports that in the area of the announced route [for the evacuation of the population along humanitarian corridors], Russian troops use the ceasefire regime and move forward. I want to turn to the Russian authorities and say the following: we agreed, through the mediation of the Red Cross, using international conventions, that ceasefire will be achieved. There should be no advance of Russian troops," Vereschuk said during a briefing on Saturday.
She said that humanitarian corridors are used to evacuate the civilian population, in particular women and children, as well as to deliver humanitarian aid to those who remain.
"Once again I appeal to the Russian authorities: stop the advance of your troops... and give the opportunity to calmly carry out the evacuation of people," Vereschuk said.
